As a part of one of my university modules, I got the opportunity to do a placement with AMBITIOUS. Despite my initial nerves, I wanted to gain the most from this useful experience as possible, and was very excited to see how the skills I have been honing for the last three years could potentially translate into my professional life!
On Monday morning, I was greeted with a warm welcome, my own desk, and an all-company breakfast where I was introduced to the team. After a coffee and a pastry, my worries were all put to ease, and I was ready to get involved in the exciting projects everyone was working on!
I instantly got stuck in, learning the fundamentals of PR through practical application. I got to do some research into networking events around Bristol, write some blog posts for the AMBITIOUS website, do some social media posts for the company’s LinkedIn and TikTok pages, and even write up a draft press release for one of our clients!
During my time here, I have also had the opportunity to go for lots of coffees with some brilliant people. This was beneficial to learn not only more about the industry but each of the teams’ personal stories. I feel more confident about graduating later this year, with a more solid idea of what I can see myself doing as a career.
AMBITIOUS gave me various tasks which gave me a good feel for what PR is and what it entails. There was never a point in the week when I felt lost or that I had nothing to do. The team were incredibly helpful, and though it was a challenge, I felt confident in all the pieces I produced throughout my time at AMBITIOUS and have learned so many valuable lessons that I will carry into my professional career.
I really enjoyed learning about SEO and using the content editor to write blog posts, as although I did have prior experience writing for the UWE magazine, it was so useful seeing this applied in a more professional setting. I now have a better understanding of the wide range of elements that make up a PR agency and could now see myself going for a career like this in the future!
It was an incredibly valuable experience, and I could not have asked for a more welcoming, kind, and helpful team to guide me through the week! I really could not recommend working with AMBITIOUS more as an intern, for a valuable learning experience, fun atmosphere and a fantastic team!
