We’re looking for a creative individual to support our own agency’s marketing activities – supporting all things digital marketing for our website content, newsletters, social media channels, PPC and SEO.

This role would suit an individual with a passion for the written word. Highly organised and willing to learn you’ll also be able to spot opportunities relevant to our business and place content online. It’s essential that this individual is interested in learning all aspects of digital marketing including some technical aspects.

This Digital Marketing Assistant role will best suit somebody who enjoys a fast-paced environment, wants to be challenged and wants to get involved in all that a busy agency environment offers.

Job responsibilities and activities

The Digital Marketing Assistant will be required to undertake (but not be restricted to) the following activities as part of their role:

  • Social media: writing copy, finding new opportunities for us to use content, assisting in campaign development and implementation.
  • Content: write short-form and long-form blog post content, develop ideas for content formats to engage with audiences and work with our in-house content production team to deliver infographics, and videos etc, and assist in creating campaigns.
  • SEO: write meta descriptions, work on technical aspects including internal linking, creating anchor text, writing and amending page titles and section headers, ensuring copy is SEO optimised, willing to learn how to use Google Analytics and SEMrush, willing to learn how to do keyword research.
  • Email marketing: creating and managing contact lists, writing emails for different audiences, managing responses, testing and learning.
  • PR / earned media: assisting in sourcing blog posts and news outlets to place content.
  • PPC: assist in managing Google Ads, updating keywords and developing ideas for images with the internal creative studio.
  • Project management: assist in managing tasks and campaigns and working with the team to ensure tasks are complete. 

Workload management

The Digital Marketing Assistant will also be required to demonstrate workload management by undertaking the following activities:

  • Time management and organisation: planning, organising and prioritising your workload to ensure deadlines and objectives for both work activities and apprenticeship training are met. ensuring email/online diaries are kept up to date
  • Meetings: arranging internal and external meetings, ensuring rooms are suitable and attendees needs are catered for
  • Career development: taking responsibility for personal learning and professional development

Working with people

The Digital Marketing Assistant will also be required to demonstrate the following in their ability to work with people.

  • Professional relationships: developing professional relationships with colleagues and stakeholders, effective listening and verbal/written communication. Ensuring supervisors are aware of work-in-progress and are briefed when any problems arise. Working with teams to achieve goals and promote a motivated work environment.
  • Networking: building a professional network of other professionals whilst maintaining a positive company and personal image

Skills and experience

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Copywriting – ability to develop relevant ideas and write engaging content
  • Effective communicator at all levels
  • Interest in business, current & topical issues
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office packages
  • Experienced in social media
  • Organised and good time management: you can juggle different activities, understanding what needs to be prioritised, and will flag if deadlines won’t be met
  • Excellent attention to detail: you consistently ensure that you review your pieces of work and submit to a good standard even when things are busy.

  • A proactive ‘self-starter’: someone who takes the initiative to volunteer for tasks, is energetic in making the most of the opportunity, and offers ideas at meetings

Educational background

  • Strong GCSE (or equivalent) grades in English and Mathematics are essential
  • Relevant Level 3 qualifications e.g A Levels, BTEC or equivalent
  • A relevant degree (business, marketing, journalism) would be an advantage
  • Other qualifications or online courses relevant to the role also an advantage but not essential

You may be required to work flexible hours to meet the needs of clients.

Package offered

  • Full time role – 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5.30pm
  • Salary – National Living Wage
