Hardly a month seems to go by without a new survey ranking Bristol as top for something.
In the past year alone our beloved city has been named Europe’s trendiest city in the National Geographic Traveller UK’s Cool List, number three in the Royal Mail’s list of the UK’s best cities to live and work in, it’s overtaken London as the UK’s leading smart city, and Bristol Uni has been ranked 9th best in the world.
With Bristol as our business home (and also the personal home for most of the AMBITIOUS team ), these awards and rankings come as no great surprise. We love the city for its diversity, events, attitude and people – all of which are reflected in the type of businesses that work here.
We are lucky to have a client-base reaching both nationally and globally, yet many are based here, and their like-mindedness undoubtedly helps to shape the culture of the city we work and live in.
Top for tech
Bristol’s latest accolade is being ranked in the UK’s top 5 most innovative tech clusters, according to a new UK Tech Innovation Index published by The Data City.
The report showed that the cluster – which groups together Bristol, Cardiff and Newport – accounts for 5% of the UK’s tech innovation, putting it ahead of other tech hotspots like Nottingham and Leeds.
As the organisers behind Bristol’s Social Media Week, we’re particularly excited to hear how high Bristol has ranked as a hub for tech innovation. The week of events we curated in March created such a buzz across the city, with many local tech businesses and experts speaking on a wide-range of subjects.
And while many speakers and delegates were local, it was also brilliant to see how many came from far and wide too. The quality of the speakers and events drew visitors from London, Birmingham, Manchester, all over the South West and internationally from Poland and Dubai.
Bristol business is booming
Social Media Week is just one example of the many high-quality events hosted here. We regularly attend events where we improve our skills and knowledge and have the chance to diversify our business network – the main challenge for us is what to prioritise. So much choice!
As a business, we believe in investing in our city with events like this, so that it continues to develop and improve. We also want to help make Bristol an attractive option for start-ups and established businesses to set up their homes here. Bristol may already be brilliant, but we all have to play our part in making sure that more exciting opportunities come its way…
